This wasn't a casual chat between friends. Instead, it's an emotional exchange between doctor and patient about heroin, lifelong addiction and the death of original Alice in Chains singer Layne Staley as part of a recent episode of 'Celebrity Rehab 3.'
During the three minute conversation, Dr. Drew prompts Starr to recount how he died for 11 minutes from heroin the night he was 'kicked out' of Alice in Chains. Starr also laments his regrets over Staley's death.
"I let him die, too. He saved my life ... isn't that terrible?" Starr asks rhetorically. Starr left Alice in Chains in the middle of the 1993 'Dirt' tour.
In addition to Starr, other patients include 'Hollywood madam' Heidi Fleiss, former basketball player Dennis Rodman and actor Tom Sizemore.
'Celebrity Rehab 3' airs on VH1.
