Since condemning Miley Cyrus' bong scandal in December, Billy Ray Cyrus hasn't said much about his daughter or the controversies that keep surrounding her.
But in an interview conducted a mere five days after the video leaked, for GQ's March issue, he comes out swinging.
Among the most startling revelations is an admission that "Hannah Montana" "destroyed" his family and his fear that 18-year-old Miley could possibly end up meeting the same tragic fate that befell controversial stars that came before her – namely, Michael Jackson, Kurt Cobain and Anna Nicole Smith.
"Every time something happened in Miley's career, every time the train went off the track, if you will – Vanity Fair, pole-dancing, whatever scandal it was – her people, or as they say in today's news, her handlers, every time they'd put me ... 'Somebody's shooting at Miley! Put the old man up there!'" Billy Ray told the magazine about why he used to have such a strong public presence in his daughter's life.
"Well, I took it, because I'm her daddy, and that's what daddies do," he added. "'Okay, nail me to the cross, I'll take it … ' "
Now the 49-year-old father of six said he realized "they used me every time." And he eventually reached his breaking point, choosing not to attend the starlet's 18th birthday party last year.
"You know why I didn't go? Because they were having it in a bar," he explained. "It was wrong. It was for 21-years-old and up. Once again all them people, they all wanted me to fly out so that then when all the bad press came they could say, 'Daddy endorsed this stuff ... '"
"If I would have went out there I would have been right in the middle of all this stuff that's going on right now with the bong. They'd be hanging it on my ass," Billy Ray continued. "I had the common sense ... I said, 'This whole thing's falling apart up there and they just want to blame all of this stuff on you again.' I'm staying out of it."
San Francisco Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN have replaced DESTRÖYER 666 as the main support act on DESTRUCTION's upcoming North American headlining tour. DESTRÖYER 666 is unable to travel due to guitarist/vocalist Keith's (a.k.a. K.K. Warslut) upcoming surgery for a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament).
Commented DESTRUCTION bassist/vocalist Marcel "Schmier" Schirmer: "DESTRUCTION wishes Keith a safe and quick recovery! In the meantime, we are really happy to announce their old friends HEATHEN as a replacement for DESTRÖYER 666! These Bay Area thrashers are one of my favorite thrash bands of all time and we will be sharing the European stages with them in some weeks on the 'Killfest' tour. It's fantastic to have an opportunity to tour with old friends on both sides of the globe! German and Bay Area thrash together on tour — how much more kick-ass can it get?! I can't wait to hit the road again now. Hope to see you all out there!"
Also appearing on the bill is WARBEAST, the Texas thrash band featuring RIGOR MORTIS vocalist Bruce Corbitt, GAMMACIDE guitarist Scott Shelby, GAMMACIDE/DEVILFIST bassist Alan Bovee and DEMONSEED drummer Joe Gonzalez.
DESTRUCTION's new album, "Day Of Reckoning", will be released on February 18 via Nuclear Blast Records. The first limited edition of the album will not feature the band's logo on the booklet while the vinyl version and second pressing of the CD will show a red DESTRUCTION logo on it.
"Day Of Reckoning" is the first album to feature DESTRUCTION's new drummer Vaaver (INDUKTI, ex-UNSUN). The band stated, "Some of you may have seen him already with the band on [last] year's summer festivals. He is a studied musician (McGill University of Montreal) and is a Polish-Canadian citizen!"
HEATHEN played its first show with returning bassist Jason VieBrooks on February 4 at Madhouse in San Francisco, California.
VieBrooks is filling in for regular HEATHEN bassist Jon Torres, who was forced to sit out the San Francisco show and the upcoming European tour with OVERKILL and DESTRUCTION in order "to focus on his health."
HEATHEN's lineup for the upcoming tour will be as follows:
David White - Vocals Lee Altus - Guitar Kragen Lum - Guitar Jason VieBrooks - Bass Darren Minter - Drums
HEATHEN's latest album, "The Evolution Of Chaos", was released in the U.S. on February 16, 2010. The CD was issued in Japan on December 23, 2009 via King Records and was made available on January 25 in Europe via Holland's Mascot Records.
SLAYER has recruited Gary Holt (pictured above) from veteran San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS to be SLAYER's guest guitarist, temporary filling in for Jeff Hanneman who is currently recovering from surgery. Holt will immediately join Tom Araya (bass, vocals), Kerry King (guitar) and Dave Lombardo (drums) for their five-date Australian Soundwave Festival tour that begins February 26.
Hanneman underwent emergency surgery on his right arm late last month after contracting a serious infection, possibly caused by a spider bite. He is now recuperating at home and is expected to make a full recovery. He will return to the SLAYER lineup as soon as he has fully recovered.
While Hanneman's doctors were not able to definitively identify the infection's origin, they diagnosed necrotizing fasciitis, an infection caused by bacteria. According to WebMD, necrotizing fasciitis can destroy skin, fat, and the tissue covering the muscles. The disease sometimes is called "flesh-eating" bacteria.
"Jeff is our brother, we've all been friends and together as a band for almost 30 years," said Araya, "so we just want him to completely recover as soon as possible."
"After everything that happened last year," King added, "we all agreed that we just can't let our fans down again," referring to Araya's severe back and neck pain that prompted his January 2010 surgery, unfortunately leading to the band's postponement or cancellation of numerous shows in 2009 and 2010. "Jeff is totally on board with this decision, so we will tour as planned. At this point, we can't pinpoint exactly what day he'll be back, but he'll be back as soon as he possibly can. And we can't wait for Jeff to get better and get his ass back on the road."
Last month, Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman underwent emergency surgery on his right arm for a serious infection, diagnosed as necrotizing fasciitis and likely rooted from a spider bite. Hanneman is expected to make a full recovery (already beginning the process of subsequent medical procedures such as skin grafts), though he is forced to sit on the sidelines for the time being. While the band has canceled touring plans in the past to allow frontman/bassist Tom Araya to recover from back surgery, Slayer has decided to go forward and perform the upcoming Australian Soundwave Festival tour, kicking off on February 26, without Hanneman.
Guitarist Kerry King gave the following explanation regarding their decision:
“After everything that happened last year, we all agreed that we just can’t let our fans down again. Jeff is totally on board with this decision, so we will tour as planned. At this point, we can’t pinpoint exactly what day he’ll be back, but he’ll be back as soon as he possibly can. And we can’t wait for Jeff to get better and get his ass back on the road.”
Slayer will be bring in a guest guitarist to fill in for Hanneman. Details regarding the fill-in are expected to be revealed shortly. It’s weird to think of Slayer performing without Hanneman, just as weird as it would have been to see them perform without Araya for that matter. But it’s cool to see Slayer acknowledging that they didn’t want to disappoint fans like they did the last few times with Araya’s injuries. We will keep you updated when more is revealed.

Looks like Sony isn’t the only one who experienced a poor fourth quarter this year. DigitalMusicNews.com reports that Warner Music Group’s fourth quarter revenue experienced a 13 percent slip to $752 million, while full-year revenues dropped 7 percent to $2.98 billion. This marks the 8th straight quarterly loss for WMG. Music publishing revenue also took a hit, dropping 13% to $142 million. And while gaining 7% to $197 million, digital sales only account for 26% of broader revenue total.
This news certainly doesn’t look good for WMG at the moment. Rumors back in January were spreading that either WMG was possibly being sold or was in the midst of purchasing label rival EMI. However, after seeing these loses, and since EMI has just been taken over by Citigroup, the former rumor might not be so hard to imagine happening. However, if Warner were to purchase EMI at a fire sale price, it could make Warner’s whole portfolio look all the better to possible buyers/investors.
Capital Chaos has posted a HD multi-camera live concert that was filmed at The Boardwalk in Orangevale, California. The full concert is available for streaming at the Capital Chaos website here
Capital Chaos, founded & created by Zoran Theodorovic was originally created as music video television show to be aired on public access in Sacramento, California. Our first show aired May of 1998 and still runs weekly to this day. In the middle of 2005 Mr Theodorovic invited Clint A. & William P. to participate in the show and a Youtube channel and a website were created. At some point in 2006 Clint went on his way leaving William & Zoran to soldier on, which they did together until January 2012 where William was let go due to irreconcilable differences. Capital Chaos currently enjoys the company of Amb Pirate and Kevin Champ. A new Youtube Channel was created & the website switched to Facebook(because let's face it everybody is on Facebook all the time now and who wants to go to some silly website and miss out on very important Facebook stuff. LOL!!!) and Capital Chaos continues on.
