Cheney continues to write his own indictment
Former commander of U.S. forces in Iraq calls for investigation of Bush-era policies

A flood of new revelations about Bush and Cheney's criminal misconduct are coming to the fore.

The exposures are a direct result of the work of all the people who are demanding accountability. With your continued help, we will secure the indictment and prosecution of Bush-era officials. Please show your support by making an urgently needed donation.

The former commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, Ricardo Sanchez, is now calling for an investigation of Bush-era policies. Sanchez himself was forced into retirement because of his connection to Abu Ghraib -- for him to now call for an investigation shows that the plot goes much deeper than that one notorious torture chamber.

"The mechanisms that are responsible for establishing accountability have lost their credibility within the country, and there's a lack of trust in them," retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez said in an interview on CNN's "Newsroom" Tuesday.

This week also brought to light two under-reported stories: 1) Cheney personally led secret Congressional briefings on torture methods, and 2) as early as 2004, the Red Cross privately expressed concerns to Colin Powell that U.S. detention and interrogation methods violated international law.

With any other administration we would call the newest torture revelations "shocking." But we are done being shocked. We have come to expect from the Bush administration the worst sort of human rights violations and trampling on the U.S. Constitution.

What is "shocking" is how Dick Cheney continues to write his own indictment. With every story that breaks about Cheney's flagrant crimes, he takes to the airwaves not to deny the charges, but to make an even more flagrant defense of having broken the law!

None of this could have come to light without the massive pressure exerted by the indictment movement and others calling for accountability. No one is above the law.

Please continue to forward these emails and let all your friends know about the indictment movement. Right now the "hold Bush accountable" message is regularly in the mainstream media, but there's no guarantee it will remain so. We can't rely on the corporate media, with its short memory -- and even shorter news cycle -- to do the work for us. We have to keep the pressure on. This is not just a news story; for the future of this country, Bush & Co. cannot be let off the hook.

Please take a moment right now and send this email to five friends and encourage them to sign the petition at IndictBushNow.org.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE: 'Starting Over' Video Available

"Starting Over", the new video from Massachusetts metallers KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, can be viewed below. (Note: Video stream may not be available to some non-U.S. residents.) The clip was directed by Lex Halaby, who also helmed KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's "My Curse" and "Rose Of Sharyn". Also check out a special "Headbangers Ball" episode Saturday night (June 6) on MTV2 at 2:00 a.m. EST with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE as guest hosts.

"Starting Over" comes off KILLSWITCH ENGAGE's self-titled fourth album, which is scheduled for release on June 30.

"This album will be the death of me," KILLSWITCH ENGAGE frontman Howard Jones tells RollingStone.com. "There was nothing comfortable about it for any of us," he says of making the record, most of which took place in Atlanta under the watchful eye of superproducer Brendan O'Brien (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, AC/DC, PEARL JAM), marking the first time KILLSWITCH guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz has stepped aside for an outside producer.

"We're known for being a pretty positive band — we're almost a self-help band," Jones says. "I feel like Tony Robbins or something. We're known for anthems, but this time I really tried to write from a different place. I've got enough to draw on to write some stuff that can be dark. Maybe there's still a hint of positivity in it, but there are some songs on there that are not positive at all."

"Killswitch Engage" will feature the following track listing:

01. Never Again
02. Starting Over
03. The Forgotten
04. Reckoning
05. The Return
06. A Light In A Darkened World
07. Take Me Away
08. I Would Do Anything
09. Save Me
10. Lost
11. This Is Goodbye

Bonus tracks (deluxe edition):

12. In A Dead World
13. My Curse [Live]
14. Rose Of Sharyn [Live]
15. Holy Diver [Live]

Disc Two - DVD (deluxe edition):

01. "Making Of" Footage
02. Interviews

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE will spend the summer touring as a main-stage attraction on the second annual Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

TO-MERA Splits With CANDLELIGHT RECORDS

TO-MERA — the U.K.-based dark progressive metal band fronted by former WITHOUT FACE vocalist Julie Kiss — has issued the following update:

"After releasing two albums on Candlelight Records, we have reached a mutual decision that it is time for this band to move on to pastures new in order to progress. We would like to thank all the staff at Candlelight for all their help during our four-year relationship.

"Our current focus will now be on recording a demo of some of the new material to showcase the musical evolution of this band since the release of [the second TO-MERA album] 'Delusions'. Tracking should begin sometime in July."

"Delusions" came out on February 18 via Candlelight Records.

Will KISS' Next Album Be A WAL-MART Exclusive?

According to NWAnews.com, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, co-founders of the rock band KISS, made a surprise stop at the at the 39th annual Wal-Mart shareholders meeting Friday (June 5) in Fayetteville, Arkansas, fueling speculation that the next KISS album will be a Wal-Mart exclusive. Though they didn't perform, a camera crew from Simmons' A&E TV show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" followed him around Bud Walton Arena.

There has been no official confirmation of a KISS deal with Wal-Mart, although artists such as THE EAGLES and AC/DC have both issued recent albums exclusively through the giant retailer. In addition, AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry may have inadvertently let it slip that the band's next studio album will come out exclusively through Wal-Mart. When asked in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the album being delayed by Perry's and singer Steven Tyler's medical problems, Perry replied, "This is about the third time I've had to make excuses why the record isn't out. You line everything up just right: Brendan O'Brien producing, Wal-Mart and Sony screaming for the record, tour coming up, and there's no record. We're still in shock that it's not happening."

Whereas Best Buy's exclusive deal for GUNS N' ROSES' "Chinese Democracy" involved a marketing campaign centered solely on the album, Wal-Mart saw AC/DC's "Black Ice" as a way to sell more than music. The company hawked AC/DC T-shirts and an exclusive AC/DC version of MTV Networks' Rock Band videogame.

"As we looked at AC/DC's loyal fan base, that's when this idea came about: How do we pull in the music with other things?" Gary Severson, Wal-Mart's senior vice president for entertainment and electronics, told The Wall Street Journal in a December 2008 interview. "Some artists allow you that opportunity."

In a recent interview with Wags & Elliott of the Columbus, Ohio radio station QFM96, Gene Simmons stated about KISS' forthcoming CD, "[It's the] first studio album in 11 years. And you can't force those things — either it's in your blood and it's happening or... This is, I have to say... this might be the best new record we've done since 'Destroyer'. In fact, it has a similar sound — 'Rock And Roll Over'-meets-'Love Gun' kind of a record. That's coming out in September/October, and then we're gonna be doing a 60-city American tour."
